ABSTRACT DEADLINE: OCTOBER 1, 1999

FRISNO - 6
------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE SIXTH FRENCH-ISRAELI SYMPOSIUM ON NONLINEAR AND QUANTUM OPTICS
Les Houches, France
January 30 - February 4, 2000
Dear Colleague,
FRISNO-6, the Sixth French Israeli Symposium on Nonlinear and
Quantum
Optics,
will be held in Les Houches, in the French Alps from January 30
to
February 4, 2000
The series of FRISNO symposia has been going on for a decade,
bringing together a scientific community dedicated to Nonlinear
and
Quantum Optics
from Israel, France, the rest of Europe, the US, Japan, and Russia.
Keeping up with the tradition, this upcoming meeting will provide
an excellent opportunity to renew old connections and form new
ones.
We sincerely hope you will be joining us in Les Houches next January,
to present your latest results, and make contact with the other
participants.
Most presentations will be in poster form, with relatively few
contributed
oral presentations,
in order to leave enough time for interaction among participants.
As in the past, the main sessions for oral presentations will
be held in
the mornings and in the late afternoons,
and the evenings will be dedicated to the poster sessions.
The afternoons will be free for binary or many-body interactions,
while exploring the gravitational potential surfaces around the
Physics
Center.
Because of limited capacity of the auditorium in Les Houches,
attendance will be limited to approximately 70 participants.
The Centre de Physique des Houches is located in a group of mountain
chalets
surrounded by meadows and woods at an altitude of 1150 meters.
It is above the village of Les Houches, facing the Mont-Blanc
range.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Venue and Accommodation
The Symposium will be held at the Centre de Physique des Houches,
whose auditorium can accommodate 70 participants.
The participants and accompanying persons will be housed
in the mountain chalets of the Center, or in nearby hotels.
For those that will be housed in the Center,
the attendance and housing fee (including full board)
will be 2500 French francs
(approximately 400 dollars, to be paid in French francs upon arrival)
for arrival on Sunday and departure Friday.
Nearby hotels are slightly more expensive.
In any case, meals must be taken at the Physics Center restaurant.
Climate
The weather in Les Houches in January/February is
unpredictable and temperatures may range, from -15 C to 5 C.
Warm sports clothes, rain gear, or ski outfits are recommended.
Skiing is usually excellent at this time of the year.
